The Ideal Rock Song is a hard thing to come by. It's a subtle being but in the right hands those few power chords can change your world for several splendid minutes. Then just throw in some warped lyrics, a band with precise opinions and an enormous attitude and you've got yourself one killer mix of Universal Squadron - the debut album from Adelaide 's alternative rock band Order of Assault.
Paige's knack for passionate and timeless songs has already helped Order of Assault in becoming one of the most promising bands in the country. The group, completed with Bethany Johnson, Monica Jewel, Cable Thomas and Jack Frame formed in 2002. All growing up together in the town of Port Augusta in the picturesque north of Adelaide . The 3 girls had nothing better to do with their time than practise Order of Dirt songs in Monica's garage. However it wasn't until the meeting between the girls and the boys at the 2002 Vans Warped Tour, that they knew that there original sound needed to chop and change to form what we now know today as Order of Assault.
Their average age is only 20 years this young band has been touring nationally for the last two years. They've released two successful albums and played alongside a host of Australian and International acts including Brand New, Gyroscope and Kisschasey.
It's in their debut album - Universal Squadron - that the band has truly delivered the set of songs we all hoped they would eventuate. Drum player Monica Jewel gives us an insight into the disc's title:
"Universal Squadron", was an ideal name for an album that we hoped would lead us to our international tour and international fans. This album shows our true form and we hope that this form will only generate further through the next albums we produce.
